{"id":86,"date":"2024-06-18T18:44:01","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T18:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wabisabiacademy.com\/?page_id=86"},"modified":"2024-06-18T18:44:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T18:44:01","slug":"class-rules-lesson-guide","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wabisabiacademy.com\/index.php\/class-rules-lesson-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Rules\/Lesson Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Things you Need to Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical Environment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Remove\u00a0<\/strong>jewellry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep finger and toenails\u00a0<strong>short\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>clean<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bare\u00a0<strong>feet\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 keep your feet\u00a0<strong>clean\u00a0<\/strong>and in good condition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Outside\u00a0<\/strong>of the Dojan, take your\u00a0<strong>belt off<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only\u00a0<\/strong>wear your\u00a0<strong>Dobok\u00a0<\/strong>to and from training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Read<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>learn<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0tenets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It is important that a taekwondo student to try to:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be unselfish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be kind to others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be respectful<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not show off<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be proud of yourself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with others as part of a team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be part of the community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fellow Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Help\u00a0<\/strong>them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be willing to\u00a0<strong>learn<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect their\u00a0<strong>rank<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect\u00a0<strong>elders<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect all\u00a0<strong>genders equally<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bow\u00a0<\/strong>to each other at the beginning and end of an exercise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Line up<\/strong>\u00a0according to rank<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are\u00a0<strong>late\u00a0<\/strong>or without your\u00a0<strong>belt\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 train at the\u00a0<strong>back<\/strong>, at the beginning and end of class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Etiquette<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When in class, only talk when necessary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be polite at all times<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn and use the correct titles for different people within the club<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only wear your Dobok when training (or travelling to and from training). Always take off your belt in public so as not to provoke confrontation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show\u00a0<strong>respect\u00a0<\/strong>for the Dojan:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Put\u00a0<strong>equipment\u00a0<\/strong>away<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bow\u00a0<\/strong>when you\u00a0<strong>enter\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>leave\u00a0<\/strong>the Dojan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bow\u00a0<\/strong>when a\u00a0<strong>higher belt\u00a0<\/strong>enters the Dojan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put your\u00a0<strong>shoes neatly\u00a0<\/strong>next to the door<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Food\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>drink\u00a0<\/strong>are\u00a0<strong>not allowed<\/strong>\u00a0on the floor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Water bottles<\/strong>\u00a0should be\u00a0<strong>clearly named<\/strong>\u00a0on the table<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always use\u00a0<strong>polite\u00a0<\/strong>language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show\u00a0<strong>respect\u00a0<\/strong>for the Instructor:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Face away\u00a0<\/strong>when sorting out your\u00a0<strong>Dobok<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bow\u00a0<\/strong>before and after you speak to them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be on\u00a0<strong>time<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Listen\u00a0<\/strong>carefully to\u00a0<strong>instruction<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It you are\u00a0<strong>late<\/strong>, warm up quietly and\u00a0<strong>wait\u00a0<\/strong>to be invited to join in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Offer\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0<strong>help<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let them know if you are going to be\u00a0<strong>absent<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show respect to yourself:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seek\u00a0<strong>harmony\u00a0<\/strong>at home \/ work \/ school and in martial arts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep your\u00a0<strong>dobok clean<\/strong>\u00a0and in\u00a0<strong>good condition<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Learn<\/strong>\u00a0in each class<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Listen\u00a0<\/strong>to your body<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Warm\u00a0<\/strong>up and\u00a0<strong>cool<\/strong>\u00a0down<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attitude<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you\u00a0<strong>don\u2019t understand<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0let us know<\/strong>\u00a0(we can\u2019t read minds)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow our\u00a0<strong>rules\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>traditions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make others\u00a0<strong>welcome<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trust<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>respect\u00a0<\/strong>others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Commit\u00a0<\/strong>to repetition and discipline.
